Factory Radio Unlock Codes for Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda & SEAT
Enter your radio's 14-character serial and we retrieve the original 4-digit code set for that unit, in 1–3 hours on average. Orders placed between 09:00 and 18:30 UK time are guaranteed the same day, by midnight; later orders are sent by midnight if possible, otherwise the next day.
Check before you order: 4-digit code units only
We only service head units that use a 4-digit anti-theft code and carry a 14-character serial starting VWZ, AUZ, SKZ or SEZ.
Newer MIB2, MIB3 and MQB-Evo systems (Golf Mk7/Mk8, Audi A3 8V/8Y, Octavia Mk3/Mk4, Leon Mk3/Mk4) use online dealer Component Protection. They have no 4-digit code and cannot be unlocked by any code service. Please don't order for these units; they need a main dealer.

Button-entry radios
RCD 300, RCD 310, Concert II, Symphony, Dance and similar units.
- 01Switch the ignition on and the radio on. The display shows SAFE, then usually 1000 or 0000. On Audi Concert/Symphony, hold TP + RDS together for 2 seconds to get the entry screen.
- 02Each preset button controls one digit: button 1 is the first digit, 2 the second, 3 the third, 4 the fourth. Each press counts up by one (9 wraps to 0).
- 03Confirm by holding the accept button for 2–3 seconds until the radio plays. This is usually OK, SCAN, the right seek arrow, or TP + RDS on Audi.
- !Take your time. Two wrong entries trigger SAFE 2 and a 60-minute lockout.

Compatibility
Compatible radios and vehicles
We cover VW Group head units that use a 4-digit code. Factory fitment varies by year and trim, so the serial prefix on your radio's label is what decides compatibility, not the car model.

FAQ
Radio code questions, answered
Last updated
How long does it take to get my radio code?
The average turnaround is 1–3 hours. Orders placed between 09:00 and 18:30 UK time are guaranteed the same day, by midnight. Orders placed between 18:30 and 20:00 come in near the end of our working hours, so they are likely to be sent by midnight, otherwise the next day. Orders placed after 20:00 may still be sent by midnight, otherwise the next day.
How much does a radio code cost?
A Volkswagen radio code costs £19.99. Audi, Škoda and SEAT radio codes cost £24.99. The price is fixed, with no hidden fees, and is fully refundable under our money-back guarantee if the code doesn't work.
Where do I find my radio serial number?
The serial is printed on a label on the casing of the radio, usually on the top or side. It is 14 characters long and starts with VWZ (Volkswagen), AUZ (Audi), SKZ (Škoda) or SEZ (SEAT). To read it you normally need to remove the radio with release keys or, on some units, Torx T20 screws. Don't confuse it with the part number, which starts with digits, such as 1K0 035 186.
Can I get my radio code without removing the radio?
First check the service book wallet: many cars came with a radio code card. If it's missing, you'll usually need to remove the radio to read the serial label, because the code is tied to that serial. If the label is damaged, send us a photo through the contact form and we'll advise before you order.
Why is my car radio asking for a code?
VW Group radios have an anti-theft feature that asks for a 4-digit code whenever power is cut, for example after the battery is disconnected, replaced or goes flat, or after the radio is removed or swapped.
What does SAFE or SAFE 2 mean on my radio?
SAFE means the radio is locked and waiting for its code. SAFE 2, or a timer, means wrong codes have been entered and the unit has locked itself. Leave the ignition and radio switched on for an unbroken 60 minutes until SAFE clears, then enter the correct code once. Our free in-car timer keeps your phone screen awake while you wait.
Can you unlock a Golf Mk7, Audi A3 8V or other MIB radio?
No. MIB2, MIB3 and MQB-Evo units, as fitted to the Golf Mk7/Mk8, Audi A3 8V/8Y, Octavia Mk3/Mk4 and Leon Mk3/Mk4, use online Component Protection instead of a 4-digit code. Only a main dealer can clear Component Protection, so please don't order a code for these units.
What happens if the code doesn't work?
Send us a short video showing the serial label and the code being entered and rejected. Once checked, you get a 100% refund, usually within 1 working day. The guarantee doesn't apply if the serial supplied was wrong or the radio is still in a SAFE lockout.
Is it legal to buy a radio code online?
Yes, for the vehicle's owner, registered keeper or an authorised motor trade technician. Every order includes an ownership declaration, and we refuse orders where there is reason to believe a unit is stolen and co-operate with UK police. RadioUnlock is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer.
Do garages and dealers get a receipt for their records?
Yes. Every paid order includes a downloadable Trade Expense Receipt showing the order reference, date, radio serial and amount paid, which you can save as a PDF or print for your business records.
Do you need my registration number or VIN?
No. We only need the radio's 14-character serial, a clear photo of its label and an email address to send the code to.
